My lovely spouse and I recently attended the Tampa Rodeo, where we were swarmed by gnats like it was the 8th day of the apocalypse. Then, we made the situation exponentially worse by spraying ourselves with cinnamon-infused bug spray for dogs (the only option we had available), which inflamed our skin like we’d been exposed to radiation. But another strange twist came in the days after this.

Just as we arrived at the rodeo that day, we saw a giant barrel with thousands of names on pieces of paper in it — sitting right near a pen full of angry bulls. Laura said, “Look at that! You can win 100 lottery tickets! Let’s put our name in and see what happens. It’s free, right?”

“Babe,” I said, as I swatted the gnats away from my face, “Can we just find that bug spray we needed? There’s too many bugs.”

“Cmon! There’s so many prizes.”

I begrudgingly got a small sheet of paper and began putting in my information. I folded it, tossed it into a bucket, and proceeded to endure chaos that day.

One week later, Laura called and said, “Sean, I think we won a free one week vacation.” That sounds shady…
