Signs You Are in Creator Hell and It’s Time To Quit

You should always know your red line.

It’s very simple.

I’m usually the “ra ra you-can-do it” guy.

I’ve been that person for as long as I’ve been writing. I’m even writing a book about consistency. But the sad truth is that many people aren’t writing for the right reasons.

They saw a “make money writing” course that oversold them on what they could do — that didn’t properly give them the tools to succeed. Now, they are in creator hell and they don’t even know it.

Here are the signs.

Nothing is changing

In my six years of writing online, I’ve come across some highly unusual accounts.

I’ll often scratch my head and ask, “Why?”

For example, there was an account that had ~10,000 posts over 4 years and nearly all of them were about “Why it’s ok to date older women.” The author happened to be an older woman (I suspect I understood her dating preferences).

This is all fine and good. However — the posts got zero traction. She had no following. I sorted the oldest posts from her newer ones and there was no change in engagement.
