I was on the hunt for article ideas and spoke with a lawyer friend. He’s always been a great resource: lawyers see everything.

I asked, “What’s the strangest case you’ve seen here in Florida?”

“Oh, that’s easy.”

He explained the case and it all made sense. It happened right here in Tampa Bay and involves the most bizarre courtroom photo I’ve ever seen. It explains a lot about America’s problems.

The insanity that led to the photo

Florida has a strange social dichotomy.

As you drive through the state, you’ll see a pattern of strip clubs and adult cinemas sandwiched between churches, Jesus billboards, and gruesome pro-life medical photos.

It feels like the state can’t make up its mind on what it wants to be. Consequently, our cities have super strange laws and weird rules around adult entertainment.

For example, in Tampa, you can’t drink alcohol at a fully nude strip club. Yet if the dancers have (tiny) tape over their nipples and crotch, you are free to drink…
