I stood in front of the Lincoln memorial, with marble white steps glowing in front of me. It was 70 degrees and sunny, with a soft breeze that made the weather absolute perfection. Crowds of visitors passed me with their muffled conversations drifting in and out of earshot.
I looked straight ahead at the memorial. Just in front of it, a woman posed with her knee up, as she looked sideways at the camera from behind her wide rimmed aviator glasses, which were tilted down slightly to reveal her eyes.
She said something to her boyfriend, the cameraman, and he dropped to his knees for a better angle.
I shrugged, realizing this was another social media photo shoot, and continued walking towards the memorial. Ten minutes later, I emerged, only to realize she was still doing her photo shoot, with her poor boyfriend still holding the camera, and Lincoln looking on with disapproval.
