Why Elon Suddenly Stopped Tweeting
A look into the silence of Twitter’s biggest loudmouth.
It might seem silly to even write an article about this: Who cares if Elon tweets, right?
Well, even as someone who has “Elon fatigue”, Elon’s sudden absence is meaningful, and there is a reason underneath it.
You can rest assured he’s just not taking a casual break. There are several possibilities and they are all interesting. He has never vanished like this before.
1. His controversial conduct
On June 16th, an open letter was published by SpaceX employees saying that Elon’s Twitter conduct was demoralizing and distracting.
It led to several people being immediately fired — for bullying and pressuring employees to sign the letter.
SpaceX’s COO justified the terminations saying that social activism had no place within the company.
Those employees' concerns were valid: Elon’s account was out of control, impulsive (as usual), divisive, and careening deeper towards Donald Trump territory.
He tweeted a poop emoji in response to Twitter CEO, Parag Agrawal’s thoughtful explanation of Twitter’s bot issues.
